The middle pole of my 80/40m inv-V, during the first stormy day on the new QTH. (12m spider pole). By the time this foto was taken, SWR was already up in the sky – as it turned out both wire sides broke down from the balun... The guy belt is at bottom of the 8th segment, as instructed. At that height, 12 guy ropes had been used. The 12th segment is unused. However, at bottom of the 12th element, only two guy ropes at 90° to the antenna wires along the roof, could not held against that wind. Two days later, during the first windless day, succeded to get it down. I was absolutely impressed that the 12m spider pole survived without any visible damage… Next time the weather is warm enough to work on the roof, I will let both upper segments unused, will let the 11th segment into the 10th to get more stability from 10+11. In addition, will use 6 guy ropes at the top of the 11th segment. |
